NW Iowa | We ran a summers disc chisel this fall. We were pretty happy with it. Only pulling a 20' though. We had it on a 485 at first and tried it as deep as it would go, it almost stopped the tractor right there. Of course everybody has different soil types and it always pulls different for everybody. Some guys bought a 30' and couldn't pull it with 500 hp Challenger, they ended up with a different tillage tool.
We run a chopping head, and the combo of the two seem to really do a pretty good job. We also ran in some stalks that weren't chopped and it still worked, but it was naturally blacker behind the chopped stalks.
We put on an Accuflow and put on NH3 with it also. I believe the springs are 1000lbs, but not certain.
Edit-We did have some issues with the bolts on the disc units. The company came out and changed a couple of things. They seem to good to deal with. | |
