Your thoughts on term limits may be more reflective of state and national positions that receive pay and benefits.  I doubt that there are very many townships in which the trustees receive more than a modest stipend for service.  It's not a money-maker or retirement-builder.  

In addition to the pay and benefits, special interest/lobbiest (PAC) moneys also. Lot's of "fringe" benefits from them as compared to their salary. As you posted, township board members get nothing, as compared to county, state and national officials . . ..
