Subject: different take

Seaforth, Ontario

Vick had the resources and connections to be in a sport that there is/was a market for. He got caught and because of his profile was made an example of. Pit bulls are bred to fight. Weak, injured ones are a liability. There are other sports involving animals that if they don't/can't perform they are gotten rid of; many not in a pretty way; slow greyhounds suffer the same fate; racehorses are sent to mennonites to retire (work); dad used to tell me of Holstein breeders, 50 years ago, who would take and bury a 'red and white' calf out behind the barn so noone would know they had that gene in their bloodlines. Times and society change. Topic for another thread is- 'What is wrong with horsemeat? Where do 'retired' horses go now?

I don't agree with the sport or the actions of Vick. But were any of the spectators who wanted the elite fighting dogs ever named or punished? Kudos to Vick for serving his debt and coming back.
