| Not so important the meal that you eat the night before as like you said, it will be 15+ hours until your surgery. More important in my opinion is the food you eat after surgery. What type of anesthesia is being used on you. If it is general, please don't eat a big meal when you get home. They will most likely offer you toast, juice and jello in the hospital. Is it just a day surgery where you get to go home soon after? I had knee surgery under general anesthesia and it was day surgery and my mom being the well meaning mom brought out this big dinner of chicken, taters, and even a pie and expected me to eat it. Well the next morning I wasn't feeling too well. Couldn't get up and "run" to the bathroom, so asked my then teenage son to bring me a bucket...His exact words were... "alright, moms going to hurl" kids, they get their kicks from the weirdest things. He did get me that bucket on time. Not even sure if it was the general anesthesia or maybe it was the pain pills that they gave me. But make sure you ask them if you need an anti nausea pill or something for after surgery. Good luck to you. | |
