| My honest opinion, as a rifle and optic fanatic. As far as mechanics and durability, Leupold is great, but not great for light gathering at dusk/dawn, unless you go to the very high $.
Lately, the Zeiss conquest 3-9x40 $400 everywhere and the 3.5-10x44 for about $565 are super for the money and perform as well as others with larger objectives.
Nikon's clarity is second to none, but I find the Zeiss has the edge at dark, with two exceptions in my arsenal.
I have two Nikon Monarch Golds, 30mm tubes, one in a 1.75-6 and another in 2.5-10x50, both mounted on Browning abolt mountain Ti's in 270 wsm and 300wsm. The 1.75-6 is absolutely incredible in low light.
If you want a Nikon, go to Natchez shooters supply, natchezss.com they have a long list of nikon refurbs for about 30% off reg price. Been using them for a long time and never a problem. | |
