Don, We have used tramlines since 1992 in wheat and solid seeded soybeans. They had two values - 1. once installed in the days before cheap lightbars, we used very little foam in the sprayer markers, and suffered very little boom end damage due to getting the boom in fences and trees. If you never get any closer than the tramline with the sprayer, the boom 'should' stay out of the rhubarb. 2. We were using our sprayer for UAN application, weed control, fungicides at various growth stages, and we weren't tramping crop down (a financial loss), and then also not dealing with the volunteer crop nearly as much as a result. We graduated to an air seeder recently, and installed a tramline kit on it, despite the fact that our sprayer has guidance and auto-shutoff - we still very much see the value of tramlines. If interested, I have most of the kit from our box drill - JD750 - and would be very reasonable if you'd find value in it. kpnixon (at) isp (dot) ca Luke aka Ken |
