EC MN - Hour North of 'The Cities' | You would have to check with Roger or Anthony at Montag, but you might be able to utilize a 24 outlet High Output machine, and put in row reducers to allow for a total of 18 hoses going forward. Then you would put in splitters to allow for a total of 36 runs to each row unit.
We use a 12 outlet Montag on our 16R30 planter using this concept. The thing I would change would be the amount of diffusers that we use down to 8 instead of 16, or plug each diffuser exhaust to allow for more back pressure.
We use a Sunco Nutri-Mate II row unit mounted opener and had good results this past year. Now that we are going to strip till, we feel it will be better to run the opener in loose soil compared to our firmer no-till soils before. If it worked in no-till conditions with accurate seed placement and not much more down pressure, then we feel that we should be in good shape with a loose seedbed.
Make sure you have plenty of hydraulic capacity to run both the planter as well as the Montag. The run of the hoses from the back of the tractor to the back of the planter is where you'll lose the most capacity. Best to go with 3/4 hose all the way with limited connection points (hydraulic couplers)if possible. If you do need connections, you could punch out the ball on the coupler to allow for more flow and install ball valves on each end to prevent oil leaking out when you disconnect.
E-mail works if you need more details.
