Driftless SW Wisconsin

The Pluribus can be run in the fall or spring. The 6000 creates less soil disturbance than the Pluribus. We have many customers running the Pluribus in the fall this year.

These customers want minimal soil disturbance in the fall. We were experimenting above with row cleaner settings but basically these folks just want to cut the residue and tuck the dry fertilizer 6" deep directly under the corn plant for later season fertility.

They also want the 6000 for use as a minimal disturbance, 6" deep side dress tool, probably with liquid 32%. The 6000 as a minimal disturbance tool is also able to seal high rates of anhydrous  (200 units/acre on 30" centers). The Pluribus is more of a soil "disturbance" type tool. It can be used for dry, liquid or anhydrous. However because it works the soil so well it does not seal 200 units of anhydrous as well as the 6000.

What we are seeing as a very popular system in the future is the combination of the Pluribus and 6000. And since they are rarely used in the same season they can be changed back and forth from the same toolbar if we are smart about it.

Short answer: the Pluribus and the 6000 are two different tools in the toolbox. Here is a picture I posted from last week of the Pluribus in an Illinois soybean field with moderate rates of NH3. It was sealing these rates well but notice the difference in the amount of soil worked compared to the 6000 pictures above. I don't know if I've explained the differences clearly but it's my bed time... here is the PLURIBUS picture from last week.

Compare this picture to the picture above where the customer is holding a tape measure. This is the difference between the 6000 and Pluribus. There are applications for each, or both.

edit: compare the 8" wide worked strip of the PLURIBUS photo (FIRST photo below) to the 6" deep narrow slot left by the 6000 (SECOND photo below). I enlarged a section of the original tape measure photo above so you can see the difference between the two systems. There are applications for each.

edit2: here is also a picture of a 6000 "test" I did on my own farm after side dressing my own corn with 28% on 60" centers. I ran it into sod to see what it looked like. Here is what the 6000 looks like run in sod at it's flattest (adjustable) blade angle putting 28% 6" deep. This is very different from a Pluribus strip. There are applications for each.
