| I heard a lot of that when I was younger, and I'm sure a lot more was said behind my back. It's something that you just have to let run off your back like rain off a slicker. I admit there were days I would have liked to say something back, even felt like punching someone a time or two, but I kept my mouth shut. In my case, I was raised by an elderly aunt & uncle who farmed. Dad was an engineer for a lrge machine shop & later for a large international company. My uncle dies when I was 19 & I took over operation of the farm. That was in 1971 and our tractors were a SM, 450, a couple Hs & a 656, a wore out 303 combine, no truck jst a couple gravity flow wagons. For the first few years I worked for my aunt for $3/hr plus paid 1/2 of any equipment the farm bought. It wasn't easy but we made it work. Yep, I had things "handed to me" Only you know you're actual contributions to the farm, not the nosey , knowitall neighbor. Keep your mouth shut and be proud of what you have accomplished. Only ones that it should matter to is you & your family plus the "big man upstairs" | |
