Not really a pump for a log splitter application, but you wouldn't need anything but a pressure relief on both lines to the cylinder. the pump is controlled by rotating the control shaft on the bottom. The pump will reverse the flow internally depending on the control shaft position.
You will need relief valves on each line to the cylinder.
