| The best thing to do is clean the area to make sure where the leak is truely coming from. The timing cover & timing case are known to leak. The pump could also be leaking as you say(known to happen also), but make sure to know where the leak is really at because if it is the cover or case the pump does not have to come off. If it is the pump the best thing to do is remove it and send it to a shop. If it is the cover and or timing case there is an updated cover. Also there is and update for the gasket between the timing case and engine block. I don't recomend doing the timing case job yourself, as the pump gear and cam gear have to be removed. Timing then becomes an issue and the gears are press fit. The cam gear has to be heated to be re-installed, and can still be a problem even when it is heated. There is a gasket between the pump and timing case that could leak, I have not seen this happen though. | |
