42 oz. is the weight of a 5.5" gun with bull barrel. When you go to 7" (actually six and seven eights inch) the weight is the same with a tapered barrel. The slab-sided bull barrel (7") weight is 42 oz also, while the fluted bull weighs in at 41 oz. It's not the weight so much as the balance of the gun that is affected by the longer barrel IMHO.
