Nusbaum Farms LLC Bellfountain, OR | I'd have to go back to the college textbooks, but isn't the N in manure mostly ammonia, as opposed to nitrate? And isn't ammonia less mobile in the soil? I'd say that 60 lbs of N moving sideways in soil is highly unlikely.
I agree 100% on crop maturity timing. It is going to be striped next year. I think the only way to "spread" it would be a dixon harrow followed by a field cultivator. That would only work well if the soil was loose.
Don's idea on soil testing is a good one but could get expensive very quickly.
