East central Iowa | If it's the motherboard you could still get an external drive. Philberts suggestions are good. If you don't know how to get to the device manager, right click on My Computer, click on Properties, in Vista you will see it at the top of the list, in XP I think I remember it's right click on My Computer, click on Properties, Click on the tab that says Hardware and you should see Device Manager. Look for something like below. If you double click on one of them it should show if they are working properly.
