Lena Ill | your sheriff is totally out of line and is putting lives at risk incurring risk liability on his county. There are several actions that can be taken here. 1) contact your 911 board they are independent of lawenforcment and funded through phone taxes. It will have members from various emergency agencies and they are in charge of policy and routing calls. 2) Your county board is responsible for the 911 budget and making appointments to said board, more importantly they are in charge the sheriffs budget and responsible for any liability incurred by the sheriff. The county board may not be aware of how a call is handheld this is easy to believe, a policy set in place 50 plus years ago and goes on and on until someone changes. I have had troubles with a head strong sheriff as a county board member, sometimes they just want to be in charge.
