Subject: Re: Austrian winter pea planting rates

East Central Arkansas
I put my cotton plates in the planter yesterday afternoon and I am going to try them for planting the peas. I plant cotton at 3 seeds per foot in a single row and get a good thick stand so two seeds per foot and twin rows should give a pretty good stand if they come up good.
I ended up getting about 10 ac of the radish planted but I need a rain to get anything up. I have three different planting rates but I only know that I averaged around 4 lbs ac on the 10 ac. I do know that the milo plates in the JD vacum planter plants more radish seed than what the chart shows for milo. I also used the milo plates for planting some triticale and they seemed to plant the seed but I think you really need the high rate plates to get enough seed out.
I might end up laying some polypipe out and watering some of this cover up.
