St.Clair Co. IL.
mike my dad always said the two most important pieces of equipment on the farm are the planter to get the crop planted and the combine to get the crop out, you say you have a 4000 hr. machine, so you rebuilt all the tin and augers and stuff you can see. what about the engine, the trans., the final drives, the axles, even the frame, heck those all have 4000 hrs. on them you can rubuild what you can see but not what you don't so you rebuilt, then the trans. craps out you figure, I got all this money invested already so I need to keep it, then a final drive see where I'm going, a rebuilt unit may make a good back up or second unit but I don' think thats what you want, I myself would look to replace with a unit a little lower hr. But that's just me, my brother and I both work off farm also, so we can't afford a major breakdown, the wobble box plate breaking off on us cost us three days of bean cutting, BUT that's just my thinking. Good luck let us know what you do. Bob
