East Prairie, MO | I also went from a 1640 to a 2166 like FarmerGreg back in 2002. My 2166 now has about 4800 engine and 4000 separator hours. The only thing I haven't replaced that touches grain is the auger pan under the rotor. Put an AFX kit on it this summer along with a new clean grain elevator and throat floor, stainless liners in the tank, shaker bushings and new cone, concaves last year along with all new unloading augers, rasp bars, screens and rails and a new head on the engine. It's had 4 sets of shaker bushings in its life. I run a 1063 corn head and a 25' 1020. My point is this, that machine can be rebuilt indefinetly I suppose, but I'm not sure $10,000 will do it but that all depends on what's been put on along the way. I use an independent mechanic on my machine and if a part comes off that has a bearing then new bearings go back on, no shortcuts! That being said, I run with a VERY minimal amount of downtime, almost an amazingly low amount for the hours on the machine actually. Last year I ended up getting a second machine because I have really been running a relatively large amount through my "little" 2166 and needed help on beans mainly. (Approx. 1200 corn and 1400 beans with 500 of wheat in the summer) When I go back to 1 machine it will be a 7088, it will be hard to let go of the 2166, GREAT machine, but someday it will probably leave here, LOL! | |
