| Mike, one thing to rebuilding your machine is you know what you have. If you buy a newer, usedachine you're taking a gamble it's ok unless you know th previous owner well. Problem is if you rebuild it you still have an older machine that's not going to be worth anymore, or not much more, than what it is now. Also, invaribly, other problems will show up. That's what happened to us last year on our 2388. WE spent $25,000 going thru it during the summer only to have other probems crop up only to end up renting a 710 to finish corn harvest. That figure doesnt include the complete new unload system we put in in the fall of '08 or the AFX otor we had installed for the '07 harvest.
If you can justify the money, I'd look at a new or low houred 5088. You heads should work fine with it & you'd have a combine that would last you several years. JM2ยข | |
