I'd look to trade into a lower houred 23/2577 or 88 series. You can rebuild what you have, but it's still a 15 year old combine. At some point you will have to trade and with grain prices where they're at now, the pain might be less than it would be later on.
I developed a pto leak on a 1460 early in the season many years back. I dumped in a couple cans of JB transmission stop leak. I was leaking a quart and half a day and it slowed to a quart every 2 to 3 days. It got me through the season and greatly reduced the trash buildup and consquent fire hazzard.
