Subject: RE: RR sunflower seed

ag4life - 9/26/2010 07:46 Does anyone know where I can get a bag of RR sunflower seed? They are not commonly grown in Southern IL and I have a neighbor who wants them for a wildlife foodplot.

Ag 4Life:

There are no RR sunf. seeds, and that may be a good thing.  With all the RR resistant problems

and the GMO situation, sunflowers are one of the few crops that are not genetically altered.

For your information, the current herbicide tolerant types, both Express and Clearfield, were

developed by finding types that were not killed by the herbicide.  So what does this tell you.

They are not GMO and so sunflowers and their oil find worldwide acceptance.  And that may be

a good thing.  Just control the weeds with other options.
