Planting depth is very important for your final yield. My son did a science fair project on planting depth. He did 9 different reps on the different depths and did the yield checks by hand, picked and shelled and weighed. The depths where 1.25 yield 165.36
1.5 yield 174.36
2in 196.61
2.25in. yield224.5
2.5 yield 217.33 59.14 bu. difference. When harverst pop. counts where done the highest yield did NOT have the highest pop. This backs up another study that I had seen that said planting deeper [2.25 is way to deep for some people] but it pays
