If you know the material they are cut from, this is a simple research excercise to find the strength.  99Max posted them but you need an authoritive reference to cite.  I would think Midwest Plan Service literature would have wood strengths and I believe most poles have the type of wood in the brand.  Like 99 said below, a square inch of wood is a square inch of wood, if the inspector can't do math well enough to figure the cross section of a round pole he needs to be referred to the proper authorities, or sent back to remedial education.
