Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | After our phone discussion on Friday, I had a conversation with another installer. We talked of various installs and I mentioned your problem.
He said he had done a Kinze and had some problems also. In his case, he did not use the planter's original wiring to the clutches but ran his own all the way back.
If I understand him correctly, he indicated that on the original layout, each clutch had a common ground wire and also each solenoid was attached to frame ground.
In his case, he removed the frame ground and his problems cleared up.
This does make some sense as you have turned the original common ground into a common "Hot" for the Seed Command system. This would seem to be a dead short if the planter frame had a good connection to the tractor.
Just an idea, On the Deere I'm working with (should get done today), we will be disconnecting the orginial clutches at the seed transmission. Since the connections to each clutch are just two pole weatherpaks, the swap should be straightforward. I don't believe I need to be concerned about a competing frame ground. |
