I've used a Harris torch with propane tips for 20+ years. No complaints other than you get slightly more slag than with acetylene. Like anything else, experience will improve the results you get with it. If you feed the torch just a whiff of oxygen it will make lighting much easier, especially outside when the wind wants to blow out a straight propane flame.
