Hard to say on the grammar w/o seeing the rest of the sentence. I would think "reporters" s/b "reporter's" or "reporters'" (if more than one reporter) to indicate possessive as to the estimate. If that is the case I would think the "(sic)" s/b after "reporters". But then that's just me.
(sic) ???
