I never saw wheat wilted like I did around here. It sprang back up in a day.

Phil, we really appreciate you sharing your expertise on this page. It is invaluable.

I will try to get a picture here but too early to tell yet. Warmer and rainy here today so should know something soon.

All we have here is early planted wheat because Oct 10 was about the last day anyone had a shot of getting any in. Almost all is full season like 25R47. It is hurt but I think it is acceptable. Most of the fields I have looked at are about 70% of an excellent yield. Depends on the grain contracts, need for straw, need for summer work in the field like tile or lime etc. Wheat, straw and DC beans just about equals one crop of corn here in net profit depending on your exact numbers. Straw is in high demand here and almost every barn is empty.

We have tissue tested every field we think we will keep so we can feed it what it needs. And if we don't keep it, we know what to concentrate on for nutrients for the next crop. I bet our lab is very happy.
