citoriskeet- it is planted in northern montgomery county, near Farmersville. Good black, tiled dirt. fertility is good, 200# NH3 spring applied. Walked
it near tassle, no disease issues. Afraid its just a failure.

I'm from this same area. I've looked at some 21 that has these characteristics and I've seen some that looks better. Someone here earlier stated that the base genetics are 61-19. Which in 2008 and 2009 thrived.....because ofconstant rain. Had 21 gotten the rain at the right time, I think you'd see it different. Another reason why they went with the 19 genetics, it has a better tolerance to diplodia.

As for whoever asked about 61-06, it is doing better than I expected in certain places. This number is very similar to 63-74, which means it has a great stalk, but so so roots. It's better suited south in the lighter, maybe tighter clay soils. But I've seen a few plots in central IL in black dirt and it's done well.

As far as 2011, I'd look at Triple Pro. The only reason I liked smartstax was for the extra above ground protection. From what little plot data I've seen and from my own plots, they look strong.

 Just my $.02.
