Central, IL | Not good here either. I have talked to several guys around with same results. I had a nice talk with a Monsanto rep who finally addmitted they could have a germplasm issue. I am curious as to how far in southern Illinois you are. I was told 61-21 would not work in southern Illinois because it can get too hot for this number from Effingham south. Obviously it cant take the heat as the plant prematurely shut down. We have picked alot of corn and have not seen this in other numbers.
I know Dekalb pushed the sales on this corn very hard this past year. It would be interesting to see how much of their summer production was in the SS lineup. I would make the bet they loaded the boat on it.
As we were picking the radio kept playing Genuity Smartstaxx commercials over and over. Kind of ironic as I am sure this will be our worst corn by far. | |
