SW Saskatchewan
Admit that this is a darn good year for moisture in Sask but I never believed that 140 bu/acre of HRW was possible in the frozen north but a good friend took me to see that crop being harvested near Pense.

And no small field either - 640 acres "a section by a section" like they say when it gets too late in the bar on Saturday night.

All the moisture that caused seeding problems for spring crops were just music to this crops ears.

Got to be honest - it was grown by a guy with a farm supply business-certified and treated seed at 2.5 Bu/acre, P, K and S applied at seeding and then two post seeding apps of UAN during the growing season-second one went on after the first shot of folicur made it apparent that this crop was going to need more N.

A second shot of folicur made sure there was no fusarium in the crop and then the $ came rolling in!

Can't say what the net $ was but it made a good story to tell your grandchildren.

My friend has increased his Canola yields into the 60+ range when hybred varieties and herbicide tolerance became available.

So-depends on what you think you can grow, your risk tolerance and your desire to gain talking points--the later worth a lot for advertising when you have a product to sell.
