 | My wheat seed costs this year are $30 per acre at a population of 1.8 million seeds (around 2.5 bpa). I bought before the spike in prices. If I had saved seed and could sell it today for $6.80 the wheat that I was saving would be worth $17 per acre in planting cost. So, for $13 per acre I get certified seed that is cleaned, treated, tested for germination/ noxious weeds, put in a bulk bag, and delivered to my shed. To me it's worth it.
I'll admit that wheat isn't typically in my rotation, but when it gets close to $7 it's pretty darn enticing. So here I am.
