Subject: Shelling dry corn -- Setup

Iowa
When shelling dry corn like everyone will be doing this year is there any other secrets to minimize header loss. I run a Gleaner with the hugger head - so any help would be appreciated was told to run the feederhouse slower -- how should I adjust deck plates? This would be my second year in corn and my first year combining it under 24%. I plan on starting when the corn is at about 23 - about 1-2 weeks- and try to get done ASAP - figure in mid Sept I can blow God's 80 deg. air on it cheaper than losing some due to header loss - man I've rode with some guys with dry corn that the bottom 1/4 of the ear is shelled - not saying they lost it all, but I dont want that to happen to me.
