I got a chance yesterday to test the soil moisture in the soil core i collected. The core went down to 38 inches. I came up with 3.43 inches of plant available water. The day before i took the core this field received 1.02 inches of rain. It looks like there is going to be enough moisture left to let the corn finish strong.

I also took a core sample in a soybean field that was planted this spring into rye and cheat grass cover. This field is next to the corn field. The core was also was 38 inches deep.

 I came up with 3.18 inches of plant available water.
