Subject: Help They say I have weevil in my corn

NC Ohio
We have a 70,000 bushel bin that was put up last fall. We filled it with corn last fall. All the corn was ran threw a Kan Sun dryer Dried to 14 percent and dumped cool in the bin. We ran the fans last winter some and got the grain really cold. We cored it after we were done last fall. We have been hauling out of it on and off all summer with no problems. Test wieghts have been running 54 to 58. Damage has been less than 2 percent and moisture has been around 14. We hauled 20,000 bushels out the first of August with no dock. We have about 30,000 more in the bin yet. We have a 25,000 bushel contract to fill in september and started hauling yesterday Took 2 loads and not a problem on the 3rd load it got rejected. Said it was full of weevil. We hire our hauling done and hauler called and told me it was rejected. He had left the ethanel plant so I told him to take it to another elevator that was close there and they took a sample and it was 55 test weight and 14.5 moisture and 1 percent damage. He dumped it and came back. We loaded again taking samples every once in a while and did find 1 bug in the sample. We will take it to another elevator in the mournig that is close. Ans see what they say. The ethanel plant we have the corn contracted at is about 40 miles away and do not want to haul it all the way there to get it rejected again. Is there anything we should be looking for to know if there really is a problem with weevil. They said they would roll the contract for new corn but really would rather not do that. I will call them tommorrow and see what they say. I just can not figure why we have bugs in it if we even do. It was a brand new bin first corn that has ever been it. And we have never had trouble before. We have 2 other bins we heave emptied out this summer to and no problems. Any ideas what could have caused it ? Sorry about the rant but I am puzzled. I sure will be glad when we get into some new corn and last year is over. One other thing our vomotoxin levels have been around 4 parts per million average. Thanks for any information or ideas
