I assume you are talking about the Spicer 6 + 1 Trans? We have 4 of them in our towing fleet. They are synchro'd. You can shift them without a clutch once you are moving, or with the clutch if you prefer. Personally, I use the clutch. Other guys around the shop do not. We have over 800,000 miles between the 4 trucks and none of them have EVER had trans problems. I would call the 6 + 1 trans bullet proof.
