Subject: Re: Gleaner guys- shimming CDF rotor above concave

West Central Iowa
My point is that Agco did not offer the shim kit the first few years for the CDF. After the small grain guys found out it was not so great for them Agco had to do something. I applaud them for this, but they should have been better prepared from the start. I know the CDF was designed to help with corn and beans. I do not raise small grains so that is why I got the CDF. CIH kind of has the same senario with their specialty rotor. Look how many mods people had to do to the old 8 bar rotor of Gleaners to keep it from grinding cobs and struggling with green stem soybeans. It obviously is a much better rotor stock for small grains than for corn or beans. Kind of the reverse situation that the CDF faces. So I guess the moral of the story here is one rotor just does not fit every situation that comes with different crops. The problem was that Agco forced the 8 bar rotor on everyone for too long before offering another choice with the CDF, just as CIH did with their specialty rotor.
