The diameter difference between the rotor and cage (CDF) is an important design feature in my opinion, it provideds the proper "wedge at the concave that you are not able to mimic with the 8 bar rotor. This is very important in corn, especially if you are running a smaller corn head on your 62 (6 row)??? I had a St. Johns rotor in my old R62 and was NOT happy in corn --way to much cob breakage in certain varieties of corn which made for constant adjustments. I traded for a R65 with CDF and was amazed at the forgiveness and full length threshed cobs out the discharge. What are you having problems with, rotor loss, or what? I did not see it in your posts. If you can't adjust separator cage than deffinately shim the separator side bars only (every other one) to tumble trash one last time before it leaves processor. This should shake out remaing kernels. Do you have the fins or knives on your CDF?? If you don't --start there first before you shim. I know of some that were installed without them early on. Remember you want that "Stair Step" action to eliminate rotor loss. I would keep some of the reverse bars in also. The processor is too efficient in my opinion, and you need to slow the material down a touch unless you run monster heads. I feel the CDF is one of Gleaners best improvements for us corn soy guys.
