There are as many answers as there combines out there. Alot has to do with the sheer number of Deere combines out there,compared to other makes, along with some quality control issues.
Also alot of the breakdowns are do to what I would call "rental car syndrome" Beat it like a rented mule,see how much product can be forced through it in a days time, and don't even look it over,except to check the oil,and coolant, much less open up some access panels, unless something breaks, 'cause it will be traded on a new one in a years time.
You can look through some of the posts on here and see it, someone buys a year old 4-600 hour machine that looks good on the outside,and when they get it home and start going over it,they have to spend another $10-12K replacing bearings, wear items, and damage because the PO just sat in the cab and held on to the steering wheel.
