Subject: RE: why so many deere combines broken??

Macon, IL
Same here-I put a couple thousand acres through an old 7700 over the last 5 years. Basically no infield downtime the last 3 years-probably a total of less than 2 days over 5 years. That was a machine with over 5000 hours on it-engine never touched besides injectors and pump.

From what I read here it is a wonder any green combine can even craul out of the shed without blowing an engine.

I know you are talking newer models, but probably 90% green in our area due mainly to the fact that other dealers are so far apart. I don't notice many of my neighbors having many of the problems I hear about here.

Was talking to one neighbor yesterday who had a $5000 repair because they had to pull the engine on a 9860 due to a small leak in an oil pan gasket. Ouch.
