OK guys...I figured that it would mean re-formatting. I'll drag everything back to an internal HD then reformat.

Ringo, thanks for explanation on 2gb restriction on FAT32. I probably have heard that before, but forgot about it in this instance. That explains why I couldn't get those 12gb .avi files to move to the portable.
