Yes base setup is crucial to repeatability, but is relatively easy to setup correctly, I would not be doing a TCM calibration with every field as you can create issues, I would be suggesting doing it once then checking it by a run up and back before planting, hilling up etc, I have a number of customers with multiple systems & multiple operators (which is always the worst to get right) who have not DONE a TCM cal for years but do check it just to be on the safe side, all of these guys are getting multiple systems back on the same wheel tracks year after year,

The only comment I would make to Deere is that their method of performing the TCM needs some work in my opinion, it is way too easy to get it wrong!, especially with fiddly fingered operators.

Again in my opinion the best method is to have the system calculate the roll bias by AutoTracking up & back on a run, the system averages itself out on this and locks the calibration in. this would be a much safer and easier calibration method.
