Seaforth, Ontario | I did a major rebuild on one over 10 years ago, so memory is a little foggy. It already had the SCH knife kit but it was time to replace it too. I had a fabricating shop close by so I replaced the header bottom sheets, the feather sheets (with stainless steel), and the bar behind the knife. When you have it that naked, be sure to check the 'ball joints' on the 'floating arms'. That made the most difference by replacing those; tightened it up like brand new. Allow plenty of time for removing, cursing those tork head bolts, measuring and reinstalling. First time takes a while, but you will know that head inside and out. A good fastener supplier will have replacement bolts, screws, etc; their 'ball joints' were 1/3 of Agco's prices; don't think I put any OEM parts on. Some jobs will require an extra pair of hands. At the same time I put an edge back on the auger flighting.
