Subject: RE: Honda pumps for fuel tender

Chebanse, IL.....

We've had a Pacer pump/Honda knockoff fuel pump for a few yrs now. It works great. We bought the pump/engine combo @ local Rural King. I think it was $189 a few yrs ago. The engine "looks" like a Honda, but it isn't. Certainly not a surprise to anyone. However, for the few annual hours we demand, it works just fine. Always starts, which is important. Our model is a 5 hp, which is more than ample for pumping diesel thru a 1" fuel hose.

The pace pump is plastic & works fine. If I were buying another one tomorrow, I'd buy the same thing. HOWEVER-I believe the Pacer folks do recommend the "Buna" seal kit (available separately...not expensive) vs epdm or viton for fuel.

Here's link to our Pacer pump, though this one is newer:

This is our tank/pump combo in operation. As others post, there is absolutely NO comparison between the pumping time of any electric vs the cheapest gas-powered pump. Again, compare the price we paid for the Pacer vs a high-output 12V pump. Then compare the gpm. I believe the Pacer is rated at 50 gpm, but with our 1" fuel hose, we've constricted that. I'm sure it easily does 30-35 gpm. We hardly ever run the engine full-throttle.
