I can tell you from personal experence if you put 4GB in it it will work just fine but it'll be a complete waste in time and money because dell only used 32bit processing with windows XP (HP is the only one who pushed windows XP 64x (64 bit processing) [that I know of] which means windows can only "see" 2gigs and will only use 2 of the four gigs. flat out no difference
