Sounds like with your modifications should work just fine. I would add some sort of spacer, stiff enough hoses or something (big rubber bands/tarp strap type?) to make sure that you don't end up with one or two hoses dropping fertilizer into the seed slot. It may evolve into a very useful and simple system! Good Luck.
