i don't think displacement has all that much to do with longitivity. I think it has to do with the alloy used, the size to the bearings and crank. The cooling ability. The ability of the injectors to evenly inject the fuel, the cooling channels in the engine, ect. I would think smaller displacement with more power would be more effiecent.
