Subject: Difference between male and female corn?

Watford City, ND
Looking over at the toolbar on the machinery page got me thinking...why do you need male and female corn? Is it for seed farms? How can you tell the difference between the two? Would someone please explain the whole process to me..thanks!

My guess is, sweet corn is the female, and male corn taste like corn-nuts. Just a guess!
