I do not think that a conspiricy is in the works. I do believe that the USDA does the best job it can given the information at hand. I know personally if I was given the task that they have I would not be 100% right because of all the variables (test weight, on farm storage, demand, and mistakes all the way from the farmer to the top personal at USDA). I know on our farm it is not so easy as to hit a button on the computer and amazingly a spreadsheet pops up with my exact cost per acre. It takes work and occasionally a mistake is made. I think that the USDA has a VERY hard job to do because they know that if they do make a mistake the Free Market will most likely figure it out and they will get drug through the mud until the next report. I truely wish that they could just push an Easy Button and the numbers would show up correctly but if we look at the bigger picture it is a very tough thing to accomplish especially considering how many people are involved.
