But even with older JD's there was always 1 shot at getting it stopped when the engine dies.
I was having trouble choking down "no brakes-no hydraulics" when the engine dies.
I've had it happen to me way too often in that odd moment when I'd throttled down too far and stalled the engine on hills when turning around, backing up the baler, etc.
(I think the guy driving the tractor just paniced)
