Sounds like you need injectors. When I bought my 8K hr 7140 it took lots of cranking and it started very slow. I installed new injectors and now it starts like new. Also, one of the failure modes for these engines is bad injectors leaking and washing down the cylinder walls eventually leading to scoring.
